Michael Flynn, Trump’s former national security adviser, submitted his resignation earlier this week after a miscommunication between Flynn and Vice President Mike Pence, which led to Pence issuing false statements to the media.
Any guess on who else was involved in this ‘scandal’? You got it! It’s our old friend Russia coming back to disrupt the American political system once again.
Flynn had previously stated that while having a conversation with a Russian ambassador, the two did not discuss sanctions the United States currently has against Russia. This message was relayed to Mike Pence, who then stated in an interview on national television that Flynn and the ambassador did not discuss the sanctions against Russia, which were put in place by the Obama administration after Russia’s alleged involvement in the last presidential election.
A little shady; Democrats, who believe Trump worked alongside Russia to tamper with the election, are now calling for a complete investigation into the incident. Maybe they are hoping an investigation will shed light on Trump’s potential involvement with Vladimir Putin? Our good friend Nancy Pelosi wants a full briefing on the issue, as well as access to copies of all of Flynn’s conversations with Russian officials.
Funny, wasn’t former Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton accused of tampering and lying about her use of a private email server? Following Democrat’s logic, Flynn’s one phone call warrants a complete investigation. Clinton deleting 30,000 emails? That was just an accident.
Any time there is controversy, especially concerning national security, you can never be too safe. While Flynn himself committed no crime in particular, other than lying to the FBI in an interview, he was still asked to resign from his position by President Trump for having let Vice President Pence issue false statements concerning the event.
Trump acted very quickly and responsibly when it came to asking for Flynn’s resignation. While the president himself admitted that Flynn had done nothing wrong, in order to keep the trust of the American people it was essential for Flynn to resign. Hillary Clinton also lied before the FBI during her email investigation and lost the trust of millions of Americans. Where was the outrage? Where was her resignation?
Following Democrat’s logic, Flynn’s one phone call warrants a complete investigation. Clinton deleting 30,000 emails? That was just an accident.
Why did Clinton not resign during her email scandal? I find it very difficult to comprehend why Democrats would demand Flynn resign from his position while allowing Clinton to be the Democratic party’s candidate for president of the United States in the general election in 2016.
Many Democrats will do anything to try and tarnish Trump’s credibility. However, this only further highlights liberal hypocrisy. Clinton’s email server was susceptible to hacking. Who knows what groups gained information about the State Department and the Democratic National Convention? It is also unknown whether Clinton’s private server will come back to haunt the United States… although many people believe it already has.
I support Flynn resigning 100 percent. However, what I can not wrap my head around is the obvious parallel between Clinton and Flynn’s situation. Both were accused of undermining national security, but only one was forced to resign? Perhaps Democrats had been planning, and rigging, Clinton’s campaign for so long that it was impossible to switch candidates when the email scandal first surfaced.
Michael Flynn apologized for lying to the vice president and said he served proudly during his short tenure. Hillary Clinton, however, denied any involvement in deleting over 30,000 emails and also lied about keeping classified government information on her own personal server. On the campaign trail, Clinton showed almost no remorse for her actions and dodged multiple questions about the situation.
Trump is in the beginning days of his presidency. It would have been unwise for him to allow Flynn to continue on as a national security adviser. By acting quickly Trump managed to save his administration's credibility. Barack Obama did not seem particularly disturbed by Clinton’s actions… instead, he endorsed her for president.
