After a mildly sad yet extremely dramatic break up with your boyfriend of two months, you might have thought your world was over. You were, after all, in love. You cried, you wailed and you blubbered to anyone who would listen (including but not limited to all 1,543 Facebook friends who viewed your last 10 posts).
But then it hit you: It wasn't over at all! You actually still had a chance with him, and the answer had been staring you in the face every time you logged onto Facebook. All you thought you had to do was write an open letter -- one that completely divulged your innermost desires and exposed his poor poor decision to let you go.
You simply had to give up you dignity and write a petty and ambiguous statement of your feelings. Simple.
So you wrote it, posted it and waited for him to come crawling back. After all, it was a known fact that any girl who wrote an open letter was sure to receive recognition for her masterpiece of emotional vomit. What guy wouldn't read it and realize he was completely wrong? It is not as if he dumped you for a legitimate reason or anything.
But now, a whole 24 hours has passed, and it has become blatantly obvious that this whole open letter thing might not be doing the trick. While you wait for emotional maturity, here are five Netflix series to binge once you realize that open letter won’t win him back.
If you want to take a stab at reality (I know it can be hard), what better way to fill the time than with a classic show all about twisted yet hilarious relationships and emotional drama? Maybe a few episodes of this show will help you with the idea that you and your ex are as platonic as Monica and Ross.
2. Gossip Girl
If you're still feeling the sting of rejection and don't want to grow up and move on like an actual adult, you can always binge on some Gossip Girl to gather a few ideas on how to seek revenge on your ex. The conniving characters of this show are sure to teach you a few other terrible and insecure ways to demonstrate your feelings -- since that open letter didn't do the trick.
3. How to Get Away With Murder
If you don't think you caused enough damage with an extremely public letter about his misgivings and want to kick the revenge up a notch, you can always binge on How to Get Away With Murder. This show is great for exactly what it sounds like, if you're into the whole insanity thing.
4. Crazy Ex-Girlfriend
A slightly obscure yet very rewarding show to demonstrate just how sane it is to “fall in love” with a boy you barely know and that it’s OK to do anything -- regardless of dignity -- to win him back. If you're needing a little justification for that open letter, look no further.
5. Mad Men
Just in case you want to relish in the fact that all men are, in fact, evil and are obviously out to leave women in the dumps, watch Mad Men instead of looking for a suitable partner just like everyone else.
