Summer Perritt is a lifestyle and pop culture writer for Youngspeak, despite the fact that she is secretly 80 years old and has no life of her own. She is a sophomore at Mercer University in Macon, Georgia, and is pursuing a degree in journalism with minors in Spanish and history.
Summer traded in her historic and coastal hometown of St. Augustine, Florida, for the land-locked municipality of Macon, Georgia, in order to pursue her passion for writing at Mercer’s Center For Collaborative Journalism. Crafting words and stories has brought her solace for as long as she can remember.
Despite the fact that her high school couldn't afford journalism classes, Summer was introduced to the trade by her former teachers and fell in love with the idea of telling fascinating, albeit true, stories for a living. She then interned for several local publications before coming to Mercer and writing for the student newspaper. She is the editor of the lifestyle and opinions sections.
In her spare time, she can be found working at her father’s BBQ restaurant, fulfilling her childhood dreams of being a mermaid and working diligently toward her back-up career as a movie and novel critic.
